In collaboration with Czech technology company ComAp, we redesigned the IG1000 packaging by replacing plastic foam insert to achieve reusability and reduce CO₂ emissions.

The Challenge

In the past, ComAp used fossil-based plastic foam inserts to pack their products. However, this material is not widely recyclable, carries a high CO₂ footprint, and does not align with circular economy principles or long-term ESG commitments.

The Proposal

To protect the IG1000, a moulded pulp tray was developed to precisely match the shape of the control system. The raw material is 100% recycled cardboard processed on a conventional line with additional after-press for smoother finish.

The Production

Within 14 weeks, the project moved from design to approved mass production. With predicted production of 11,700 units per year, the new packaging solution will reduce plastic waste by 675.7 kg annually.

Today, the IG1000 is shipped in packaging designed to protect both the product and the environment. The solution contributes to ComAp’s ESG goals while maintaining the same level of functionality and reliability.
